Meet Our New Exhibit: Urb Garden

A new exhibit is underway at Madison Children’s Museum!

If you’ve been to the museum recently, you’ve noticed construction on our upper parking lot deck. This area will soon become our new Urb Garden, opening August 8.

Urb Garden is a three-season wonderland designed for the museum’s youngest visitors. Directly connected to the Wildernest, Urb Garden’s outdoor deck and garden houses a green oasis in Madison’s city center.

Young gardeners will learn about:

  • Plant and food cycles
  • Sustainability
  • Local wildlife
  • Greenhouses
  • Weather patterns

Kids will also be able to participate in a variety of new workshops and classes in Urb Garden. Make pesto, paint flower pots, design and build a fairy home, and assemble windsocks!

Join us for Urb Garden’s unveiling on Thursday, August 8 from 4–7 p.m. An evening out for the whole family, our Backlot Bash celebration will feature live entertainment, outdoor gardening activities, crafts, and games. Explore our new exhibit, hang out in the Log Cabin, and meet our new Executive Director, Deb Gilpin. Food will be available for purchase. Admission is free.  RSVP to the Facebook event.

Urb Garden is made possible through support from the Sensenbrenner Family, the Association of Children’s Museums Going Wild Initiative on behalf of the Trustees’ Philanthropy Fund of Fidelity Charitable, a generous bequest of the estate of Bonnie Berman, and the National Wildlife Federation.
